ActiveX Data Objects (ADO)
ADO is a Microsoft high-level interface used to access data. It is a technology that allows a programmer to write code that can be used to add database access to an application.
ADO is uses the same interface and features across the products it supports such as Access, Foxpro or other database engines. It is also consistent across programming languages such as Visual Basic, C++ and Java.
It operates with operating systems that support Component Object Model (COM) and OLE Automation such as Windows 95 and Windows NT.
ADO uses objects to access information stored in a database. These objects are variables or functions and are used by the programmer to generate the code.
