Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) -
The CORBA specification was developed by the OMG group. It defines the use of software objects and how they can share information between applications and on different computer platforms.
Links between objects are forms with ORB (Object Request Brokers). Developers write IDL (Interface Definition Language) to describe what methods and properties are available in the ORB.
Internet communications are supported by the IIOP (Internet InterORB Protocol).
It is similar to the Microsoft DCOM (Distributed Component Object Model) technology.
