General Information -
Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)
A spread spectrum wireless telecommunications digital cellular phone technology.
The signal is broken down into small chunks and each chunk is transmitted over a different frequency. This makes the signal more secure.
The CDMA standard defines three modes 1) Multi-Carrier, 2) Direct Spread, and 3) Time Division Duplex. It operates with ANSI-41 and GSM-MAP networks.
CDMA2000, a third-generation wireless technology, has been submitted to the International Telecommunication Union. It is based on the IS-95/CDMA-One standard
The IS-95 CDMA standard was developed by Qualcomm Inc.
The two CDMA standards are
- TIA/EIA/IS-95A - Cellular ( 849-984 MHz ) -
- ANSI J-STD-008 - PCS ( 1850-1990 MHz ) -
