General Information

1) Domain Name System (DNS) is a collection of servers throughout the world that take internet names such as www.techadvice.com and resolve them to an equivalent IP address.

The DNS is used by every internet user when they connect to an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Typically, when you setup your computer's Dial Up Networking (DUN) you are given one or more DNS IP addresses which you place in the DUN Server section to tell your computer where it is used to resolve Internet Addresses.

2) Domain Name Service (DNS) is a Microsoft NT Operating System Service

If you need a program to map your Home Based IP address server to the Internet Domain Names check out the program "Simple DNS Plus" at JHsoft.com.
