General Information -
A Serial Bus hardware technology much like USB. It provides Plug and Play, hot swapping. It uses a peer-to-peer configuration.

Transfer rates are 100, 200, and 400 megabits-per-second.
The technology is actually called IEEE-1394. Several companies have trademarked names for this technology such as Apple's FireWire, Sony's i.Link and Texas Instrument's Lynx.
As many as 63 devices can be daisy chained from a single host connection. The maximum distance between devices is 4.5 meters with a total combined segment length of 72 meters.
