Exception Errors with MCSCAN32 | Windows98 | Exception Errors |

Errors involving the MCSCAN32 module -

These errors are mostly caused by the McAfee Anti-Virus Program. A good way to verify this is to temporarily disable the McAfee program and repeat the operation which caused the error. If the error message goes away when the McAfee program is disabled then it points to McAfee being the problem.

Some possible solutions.

  1. update your McAfee virus definitions (you can download them from the McAfee web site.
  2. upgrade your version of McAfee Anti-Virus program to a newer version
  3. Perhaps you have a virus or a Trojan. Scan your system for viruses to see if any are detected.
  4. For troubleshooting purposes you can also try to Remark the reference to the McAfee boot time scan in the autoexec.bat file (C:\PROGRA~1\NETWOR~1\MCAFEE~1\SCAN.EXE). You can do this by using the sysedit utility and placing the REM followed by a space in front of the entry so it looks like this (REM C:\PROGRA~1\NETWOR~1\MCAFEE~1\SCAN.EXE).
