Icon - AutoArange | Windows98 |

How to change the settings so that the icons stay where you place them rather then always lining up by themselves.

Close or minimize all the programs so that you can see the desktop.

Find a blank area on the desktop and right click on that area.

Select "arrange icons" from the pop-up menu

A new pop-up will appear to the right of that window

Move the mouse down to the selection "Auto Arrange" and click on the selection so that it does not have a check mark in front of the selection.

When the check mark is gone, you will be able to move the icons in any location you want on the desktop.
