Windows 2000 Loses Date and Time on Every Boot - ...KB Article Q243883, 

...Error Message that the system's date and time are invalid. (date may be set for January 1, 1601, or other, and the clock resets to 12:00 A.M. )

Cause : Invalid entries in the BIOS HalpFixedAcpiDescTable table due to BIOS not being 100% ACPI compliant. Update your BIOS or reinstall Windows 2000 without ACPI support (see link above)
